Courela da Azinheira

Courela da Azinheira is a large 6-bedroom farmhouse (sleeps up to 14) set in 5 Hectares of land in the heart of Portugal’s famous Alentejo area, famous for its fabulous Tuscany-like countryside, cork trees, olive groves, rich red wines and historic castles. It is also our weekend getaway from Lisbon and we love it.

Courela da Azinheira is for:
· Long lunches on the terrace overlooking olive groves
· Watching our resident black-shouldered kites on a late afternoon skirmish
· Catching foxes drinking from the pool in the early morning
· The absolute silence of an Alentejo morning
· The spring flowers, covering entire hillsides
· Fresh-baked bread (still hot) from the local village bakery

Seen from the terrace: wild boar, foxes, rabbits, partridges, booted eagle, Bonnelli’s eagle, red kite, buzzard, osprey, black-shouldered kite, hen harrier, stork, and numerous other less notable species.

Courela da Azinheira is approximately 1 hour from Lisbon airport.
